Richard "Tim" Ross

Richard “Tim” Ross, age 83, passed way peacefully on February 23, 2024 while surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Lorain, Ohio to Dr. Hudson Ross and Mary (Mackin) Ross on August 17, 1940. Tim graduated from Lorain High School in 1958; following graduation he chose to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force where he served as a Radar Technician attached to the 4521st Aircraft and Electronics Maintenance Squadron stationed in Nevada. After his return to Lorain, he held various jobs until he started his career at Bendix Westinghouse in Elyria, Ohio. Tim worked in the machine shop there while he attended college, at LCCC and Akron University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree. He transitioned into a position in the Accounting Department and continued his education at Baldwin Wallace University where he earned his Master’s Degree. He retired from Bendix following a career that spanned more than thirty years with the company. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wakeman where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Tim also was involved in missions organized through St. Mary Church travelling to Belize to build schools. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Wakeman Eagles Club, Past President and member of the Mexican American Citizen Club, former member of Cursillo at Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain as well as the former leader of Boy Scout troop #435 in Birmingham. Tim loved sports, especially the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Football; he also worked as security at the Cleveland Browns Stadium. In his free time he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was in preceded in death by, parents Dr. Hudson Ross, Mary (Mackin) Ross, sisters: Janet Emerick, Sally Keenan, Barbara West, and Nancy Ross, brother: David Ross and son, Mark P. Ceja Tim is survived by his wife Alice (nee Rodriguez) Ross, son, Gregory (Lynn) Ceja, daughters, Elissa Palos (Fred Acosta), and JoLynne (Bruce) Marsh. seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his nieces that he raised, Maureen VanWagnen, Margie Berki, Anne Bitterman Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 5:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Ronald Brickner, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wakeman will preside. Following the service, visitation will continue in the funeral chapel until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the Special Olympics or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
