Rita A Davoli

Rita A. Davoli (nee Bogdan), 85, of Lorain passed away peacefully Tuesday March 28, 2023. She was born in Lorain on May 1, 1937 and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Rita attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Grade School and was a graduate of St Mary High School. Rita married her high school sweetheart, Frank Davoli, and they were happily married for over 63 years until Frank passed away 3 years ago. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. Upon Frank’s retirement, they both volunteered for over 20 years delivering Meals-on-Wheels to shut-ins in the great Lorain area. They also teamed up to help with many events for Ford’s United Auto Workers Local #425. As volunteers for the Giving Tree programs at both Nativity BVM and St Peter Parish, Rita and Frank aka “Mrs & Mr Clause” collected and distributed tons of toys over many years for area children. Rita was a lifelong member of her beloved Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. She was proud that her uncle, Monsignor Radecki, “built” the church and his name is on the building’s cornerstone. Sunday mass and strictly following her Catholic faith were the foundation on which she lived her life. She is survived by her sons: John Davoli (Lisa) of Fostoria and Joseph Davoli of Sandusky; sister Rosemary Grochocki of Sheffield Village; grandchildren: Jennifer Bellisario (Reuben), Rita Torres, Ashley Davoli, Mathew Davoli, Sarah Davoli (Shelby), Noah Davoli, Frankie Davoli, Emily Gosztola (Taylor) and Damien Davoli; great grandchildren: Isaiah, Reuben Jr, Xavier, Emma, Lily, Tucker, XinRui and Otis and son-in-law Bob Barto. Rita was preceded in death by her parents John & Teresa Bogdan (nee Radecki), husband Frank Davoli, daughters Andrea (in infancy) and Angela Barto, son Frank Jr, infant twin grandchildren Jessica and Anthony and brother-in-law Edward Grochocki. The family will receive friends Sunday April 2, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday April 3, 2023 at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Gerald Keller will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. Memorial contributions can be made to Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain, OH 44052.
